IT’S ALMOST THERE
The world of gaming is ever-growing. Games like GTA V had a development budget of $265 million. The process of developing a game is vast. Even though we don’t have a huge budget nor a carpark of Lamborghinis, what Ostrita does have: knowledge.
GOAL: During this event, we will work together with students from all sorts of disciplines to make a great game that is actually published.
What will it look like:
- We deliver a prototype of a plan to create a game. Just so that we have a start, we can transform it however we want!
- The template engine will be Game Maker, an easy-to-start-with development tool great for learning, with room for coding.
- Meetings will be held with Google Hangouts.
- There will be four sessions of one hour, during the months July and August.
- The introduction meeting will be on the 25th of July 20:00 – 21:00
- During the introduction meeting there will be a 15 minute presentation about the project guide, and a 45 minute brainstorm to outline the event
- At the end of the meeting a follow-up meeting will be planned
- You can choose to fullfil one or multiple roles of the project
- You can pick a role which you are already proficient at to apply yourself in real development
- If you want to learn more about a certain skill, you can pick an assistant role which partners you with a more experienced team member. You will still play the role, but you’ll get help while learning the ins and out
Roles:
- Project Manager Available
- Programming Filled
- Designer Available
- Soundtrack Filled
- SFX Available
- Level Designer Available
- Story Writer Available
- Marketing Available
To apply for a role, please fill in the RSVP at the bottom of the page. Or let one of the organisers know.
What’s in it for you:
- Unique opportunity to learn 360 degrees of game development and the process of working together in a multiple disciplinary team of other students in a short time.
- Your name will be shown in the credits.
